Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day With The Irish!

1:26 pm in Blog by ndpickem

This St. Patrick’s Day, all of us Irish fans will be given a special gift from the people at VERSUS. The network announced that on March 17, they will host a “Celebrate the Irish” special which will air three of the greatest games in the history of Notre Dame football that aired on NBC Sports. The special will kick off at 5:00PM ET on St. Patrick’s Day. Liam McHugh will host this special and things will kickoff with the game dubbed “The Snow Bowl” from 1992 as the Irish faced off against the Penn. St. Nittany Lions. The second game will feature the “Bush Push” game from 2005 as the Irish hosted USC in what has become one of the most talked about games in the history of Irish football. They will wrap up the celebration with the famed match up in 1993 against Florida St which was a game between the top two teams in the nation at that time.

During the broadcast there will be interviews with head coach Brian Kelly, and former Irish football players including ex… Continue Reading »

2011 Recruiting Class Round-Up

2:45 pm in Blog by ndpickem

National signing day has come and gone and according to rivals.com Notre Dame had the 10th best recruiting class in the nation with a total of 23 prospects signed to play for the Irish. These 23 high school players come from 14 different states around the country. Ohio is the leading state with four recruits followed by California with three. Four different states have two players from each and one player from eight different states. In this group we have six defensive linemen, four defensive backs, four linebackers, three offensive linemen, two wide receivers, one quarterback, one running back, one tight end, and a kicker/punter.

As you can see through this breakdown the Irish coaching staff put a heavy emphasis on recruiting to the defensive side of the ball. As a fan who saw the Irish give away countless leads, along with not getting big stops when needed, and struggling to get off the field on third down, I could not be more pleased to see this many recruits coming in together at the same time. Spring Quarterback Report

12:09 pm in Blog by ndpickem

As Notre Dame begins preparing for spring practice, and the official start of another college football season, the coaching staff still has many difficult decisions to make and those decisions will start being made on March 23rd when the Irish open up the first of their 15 spring practices that will lead up to the 82nd annual Blue-Gold game.

The Irish were originally thought to have 6 options at QB coming into spring practice, but that number has dropped down to four in recent weeks as freshman Luke Massa (did not see action first season on campus) has been moved to wide receiver which could prove to be a very valuable move as his 6’4” 215lbs. frame should make him a very large target for the guys that will be battling it out this spring and if Massa can learn the offense and run good routs, there is a chance you could possibly see him lining up at wideout come fall. The other loss for ND at the QB position is the son of ND legend Joe Montana. Nate Montana… Continue Reading »

Regular Season Final UNOFFICIAL Leaderboard

5:28 pm in Blog, Uncategorized by ndpickem

Greetings again everyone and an early Happy Holidays!  After a couple weeks off after the impressive win over USC, we have updated the last Regular Season Leaderboard.  Please keep in mind, at this time these results are unofficial until each of the leaders wagers have been verified.

Any of the Top 3 (with exception of smcabaj who is ineligible) finishers that did not make at least 6 wagers in total throughout the season will be disqualified, with the next eligible user with the most credits then moving up for prize distribution.  Please keep your eyes peeled on the site for the next couple of days as we expect to have this completed in time to give the winners some good holiday news for Christmas.

On a side note, we are thrilled to get an early edition Catholics vs Convicts on New Year’s Eve, and even though the Hurricanes are favored by 3, we like our chances against the coach-less “U”.

And now, the UNOFFICIAL regular season results…..

Week 11 Full Leaderboard

11:31 am in Blog by ndpickem

With last week’s win over Army, ND covered easily, while the under came in.  Nothing changed in the Top 10 other than the leader gaining 500 credits.  Everyone else basically washed with their wagers, but there are some up and comers that can make a splash with their final wagers of the year.  Well, here you have it, the final leaderboard heading into the last game of the season.  Good luck this Saturday everyone, and remember if you haven’t placed at least 6 wagers this season, you will not qualify for any of the prizes so you will have a shot at 3 wagers this week to help get you there if you have fallen short so far!

ND vs Army wager recap and reminders

9:23 pm in Blog by ndpickem

ND takes a two game win streak to Southern California this Saturday to end the regular season.  With the 27-3 win over Army at Yankee Stadium, the Irish improve to 6-5 and are now bowl eligible.  While most of us had slightly higher hopes a few months back with Brian Kelly’s arrival, Notre Dame has an opportunity to at least end the season on a high note with a road win against one of our bitter rivals in USC.  Getting a win in LA could certainly propel ND into a bigger bowl, and may even allow them to play after the Christmas holiday, while a loss would all but guarantee a bowl invite that would take a back seat to the annual Blue/Gold game.  Either way, we need the practice so we are all for accepting any bowl invite extended.

As for us at NDPick’em?  Well, we were hoping to get some new lines posted tonight, but they are currently unavailable, so we will be checking back again Wednesday and post them once we see them.  The leaderboard should be… Continue Reading »

Week 10 Full Leaderboard

10:47 am in Blog by ndpickem

For those of you keeping track, with ND’s huge upset win at home against then-ranked #14 Utah, there was some movement again in the Top 10.  Congrats to those that got tough and put it on the line for ND to cover, wish we did the same!  Who would have thought ND’s defense would be able to keep a supposedly exceptional offense to only 3 points and come up with a 25 point victory?

With the 28-3 score, the Under came in much lower than we were looking for, and with 3 offensive touchdowns, all passes from Tommy Rees, the prop bet did not come in.  Although there were 4 total touchdowns in the game for the Irish, the first of the game was the blocked punt return for the defensive score.

So here we go with the full leaderboard, with only two games left, it’s getting closer each week, make every wager count if you think you have a chance at the $1,000!

Week 9 Full Leaderboard

9:46 pm in Blog by ndpickem

Well, I think we all learned a lesson after losing by 1 to Tulsa two weeks ago….it’s been very difficult to wager on ND this year, and when they blow a game against a subpar opponent, it makes losing unbearable.  With almost everyone losing on the Cover and Over/Under wagers, there was a lot of movement this week on the leaderboard.  Some members are now on the board for the first time, and others are once again off the board.  It’s anyone’s game as only 1000 credits gets you in the Top 10, with the leader only 3 successful wagers in the black.  Welcome back from the short absence, and good luck everyone against Utah!

Jason Whitlock calls on ND to fire Brian Kelly

3:06 pm in Blog by ndpickem

In light of the recent tragedy involving the death of a 20 year old student videographer filming practice on Wednesday, Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports (as well as others) has called upon ND to fire Brian Kelly.

If you haven’t read the article, click here

We’d like to know what our members think, should Notre Dame hold Brian Kelly accountable for this terrible accident?

Needless to say, our utmost sympathies for the family and friends of Declan Sullivan.
